Sports Diplomacy
Sport as a tool for bilateral cooperation — building bridges between India and France through the universal language of athletics, competition, and shared ambition.

Our Vision
Sport as Soft Power Between India & France
IFSA believes that sport is one of the most powerful instruments of soft diplomacy. By creating structured exchanges between Indian and French sporting ecosystems, we build lasting institutional relationships that transcend individual events and deliver measurable impact for both nations.
From facilitating government-level dialogues to connecting grassroots academies with elite European clubs, IFSA operates at every level of the sports diplomacy spectrum — ensuring that the India-France bilateral relationship grows stronger through every match played, every coach exchanged, and every partnership forged.
Key Initiatives
Driving Diplomatic Impact Through Sport

Paris 2024 Olympics Presence
IFSA was actively engaged during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, facilitating high-level meetings between Indian and French sports officials, supporting athlete delegations, and promoting bilateral sports cooperation on the world's biggest stage.

India House Collaboration
At India House Paris, IFSA co-organised cultural and sporting events that showcased India's sporting heritage to an international audience, strengthening people-to-people ties and fostering new institutional partnerships.

UNESCO Partnership
Working alongside UNESCO, IFSA advances sports as a vehicle for peace, inclusion, and sustainable development, aligning grassroots programmes with the UN's broader goals for youth empowerment and social cohesion.

Embassy of France in India
IFSA met with the Embassy of France in India to deepen bilateral football cooperation — presenting an Olympique Lyonnais scarf and aligning on youth exchange, coaching partnerships, and the road to the next Indo-French Football Tournament.

Subroto Cup International Tournament
IFSA engaged at the 64th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament in New Delhi — one of Asia's oldest youth competitions — exploring pathways for Indian school talent into French academies and future Indo-French fixtures.
Paris 2024
The Olympic and Paralympic Games
Through the Paris 2024 Games, IFSA worked alongside the Paralympic Committee of India, coordinating arrangements for the Indian contingent on French soil.
Before the Games, IFSA coordinated training, accommodation and transport for the Indian Paralympic team at a Games preparation centre in the Val-d'Oise, and for the para-shooting squad based in Châteauroux.
During the Games, IFSA supported the contingent's logistics in Paris and accompanied Indian officials across Olympic and Paralympic venues. The Paralympic Committee of India later wrote to the association in appreciation of that support.

Bilateral Relations
Connecting Institutions Across Borders
Government-to-Government Cooperation
IFSA facilitates sports cooperation at the governmental level, connecting India's Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports with France's Ministère des Sports to advance shared priorities in athlete development, anti-doping, and major event hosting.
Federation Partnerships
We build structured partnerships between Indian and French sports federations, creating pathways for joint training programmes, coaching exchanges, and competitive opportunities across football, basketball, and emerging disciplines.
Educational Exchanges
Through collaborations with sports management schools, universities, and research institutions in both countries, IFSA creates academic pathways that combine sports science, management education, and cross-cultural immersion.
